Hare Krishna,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

We had a joyous celebration of Ratha Yatra festival 2013 and would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every volunteer, participant, guest and everyone who involved directly or indirectly in making this event a huge success.

The Festival began with a welcoming speech by Praghosa prabhu and our Guest of Honour, His Excellency, the Mayor of Dublin Mr. Oisín Quinn’s speech.

We would like to extend our special thanks to Mr. Quinn who kept aside his busy work schedule to attend this grand festival and inaugurated the festival in the traditional way with breaking coconut in front of the Rath cart and then swept the road before the Lord's cart began its journey through the City Centre.

Manu prabhu lead the kirtan group and slowly the crowd began to build. The chariot was then pulled by the devotees. Many people who were also passing began to participate and pulled the Chariot. There was joyful dancing in front of the procession and the lively group of kirtaniyas broadcast the Lord's Holy Name to literally, hundreds of onlookers.

Ratha Yatra Dublin 2013 Bhakti Vikasa SwamiHH Bhakti Vikasa Swami also joined the parade singing and dancing along the entire route. Singing the Mahamantra, and dancing to the transcendental sound of the music, devotees and friends pulled the cart through the streets of Dublin, immediately attracting the attention of people everywhere.

Though it was a busy Sunday because of Dublin/Kerry football match but thanks to the Dublin Garda Police units who provided support for the event by controlling the high traffic zone. For few hours, the city came to a standstill as almost a kilometre long procession poured unto the main thoroughfares.

To add to The Lordship’s pleasure, and the nice weather, it was also Ekadasi! There is nothing better than Ekadasi, the day of Lord Sri Hari to do seva in this or any other world. This year we were also very fortunate to have H. H. Bhakti Vikasa Swami Maharaja, who spoke on the significance of Ratha Yatra at St. Stephen's Green Park.
